Bobby Brown, who was married to the late-Whitney Houston's from 1992 until 2007 when they divorced, issued a short statement today on the passing of his ex-wife. Houston was found dead yesterday (Feb. 11) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. A cause of death has yet to be determined.

"I am deeply saddened at the passing of my ex-wife, Whitney Houston," Brown said. "At this time, we ask for privacy, especially for my daughter, Bobbi- Kristina. I appreciate all of the condolences that have been directed towards my family and I at this most difficult time."

Brown, a Grammy award winner, is a former member of the group New Edition who had an enormously successful solo career and helped pioneer the "new jack swing" sound.
